Database flaking out? (Errors)
« on: September 28, 2006, 11:11:53 PM »
I keep getting this error:

Quote
Database Error
Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator.

I get it when I'm just navigating to and from topics, just now.  It's possible it's just me, because it's not giving me an error code I can troubleshoot, so I can't tell if it's happening on my end or yours, but I wanted to mention it in case it's not me, as you might need to give the board database a kick or restart or something.

The machine jim-butcher.com is running on had itself a bit of a crash.  I've picked it back up again.

I just sent an email to Mickey because it totally went down for a few moments, but you've already fixed it.  You're quick!  Thankee!

Yeah, anything code or board or overall policy questioning should go through Iago. ;) I don't have access (or the knowledge of how to fix), and don't make the policy.

I probably have a say in it, but the big dogs are Iago, Jim, and Shannon.

Iago - what's your admin-stuff email?  I emailed Mickey b/c I had his email from reporting a spam post some time ago, and the board was down so I didn't know where to get anyone else's email.

(And if it's on the main jim-butcher.com website, we can all whack me in the head for being braindead.)

According to the little 'e-mail' icon under his avatar, it's iago@iago.net.

Thanks Shiggy.  I got out of the habit of hovering over email links because so many boards these days hide it to stop email-harvesting bots.

No problem.  And I'm sure, if he wants us to e-mail him elsewhere, he'll let us know.
