FAQ

Yay!  Thanks, mods!  This is certainly going to be useful, especially for the newbies to the board.

Edited to change the subject line to all caps, as per request. :D

I humbly request that you spell FAQ with all capital letters, as it appears eerily similar to a hateful term when written in all lower-cased letters.

Brilliant idea that was, whoever suggested a FAQ.

Shannon brought it up, which was the first place I saw it (it may have been suggested before), and I got volunteered to work something up. ;)

We're going with the concept of I'm acting as editor, but the text comes from you guys (or Jim, or Robert, or Iago/rdonoghue, etc).

It's not going to be fast, but it'll probably be thorough as hell.

A storm knocked out our access for quite a while, so I should get started back on the FAQ next week.

Baring more RL weirdness.

A FAQ is a compilation of information designed to address questions that frequently come up...as long as there's a standard answer (in that case, Where's my Avatar? isn't one, unless the answer for everyone is the same, like "Over your left shoulder, behind the couch."

A *good* FAQ tries to stave off questions before they're asked, and becomes a tome of standard knowledge...in this case about all things public about Jim & his works, which is what we're slowly trying to do.

You lied it's not over my left shoulder  :'(

So what your saying is FAQ is designed to stop pointless questions and to create an all knowing data base

makes sense
In a way we are making one big Jim Butcher Bob-the-skull

I'll ask a question now

How can Jim be so witty, is that just the way he is or does he just do it when he writes

And also

did he ever get beaten up for being a smart ass (excuse the lang.)

Perhaps more to the point, it's designed to give people a place to look up common questions themselves, so the same questions don't get asked 50 times a week on the forums. :)

That's an interesting analogy.  Does that make me a mote in Bob's eye? ;)

Well, he's always been pretty witty (at least in the 16-17 years I've known him) although all the writing he does has sharpened and quickened that wit.  You don't have time to see the wheels turn anymore. ;)
