Problem with my avatar
« on: November 03, 2012, 01:12:50 AM »
I am very sorry for bothering, but I've noticed I have no option for changing my avatar for another personalized one. When I go to the forum profile, I only have two options; no avatar and chose an avatar from the gallery. Weirdest thing is that " no avatar" is clicked, despite the fact I am showing an avatar.
Please, help!
(I tried with several computers and browsers, that is not the problem)

I know, others have told me the same  :'(. I am hoping Iago or some mods can take the time to see what happens.

Check with Ala, he seems to be something of a computer expert.
Try unchecking no Avatar and checking the other box and see what goes.
Oh, copy and paste the URL or address of your avatar picture somewhere safe
before you do anything.

I have the address saved. I unchecked, I'll try again.

If you can access the URL - the address of the pic - maybe you can change the
Avatar despite not having the third option.

To change my Avatar I go to the URL and find the section of the address
that is the name of the picture I'm using.
This is the last part of the URL I'm using now - MountainCat/KFT.jpg
Okay the bolded part is the name of the pic I'm using.
If I want to change it then I'd just remove that and put in the name
of whatever else pic I wanted to use.

I think you're going to need a mod for this one- it sounds like you've tried everything except maybe clearing cookies, but I suspect since you're the first to hit 40k posts, nobody has turned on the customizable avatar option for that level yet (since it seems disabled by default).  :(

Hi Ala - ninjaglomps the Ala.
How are you?
That's odd - I've always had the third option on my Profile page.

Hi Snow!  *wavey*  My mouth is still a little sore from a crown I had put on one of my back teeth Tuesday, and school has gotten even crazier (two essays and a certification I'm studying for), but otherwise life is okay.  How are things for you?

I think Dina has entirely different options because she's in the 40k tier (like less than 100 posts don't give you the option, but 100-1000 does, 10k does, 20k does, 30k does; but since nobody was anywhere close to 40k when they set everything up they may not have set it to give the option for 40k posts; might be the same for whatever 50k is, too).

I'm hanging in and hanging on, Ala.
Sorry to hear about the crown - teeth problems suck.
Glad to hear it's over, I think?
What certification are you studying for?  If you don't mind me asking.

Okay, that makes sense about Dina's avatar.  Sounds like something Iago will have to look into then.

Studying for my MCSA (server administrator).  It's the only computer class I took this semester (I crammed in the last three of my core classes and then the server admin class) so I'm pretty sure I'll do okay, but I'm nervous on it because it's the first cert I've tried for that I haven't had any actual 'employment' experience, and it will help a lot with trying to get a job that I actually want to do.

Also it costs $150 and I do not want to have to spend that twice.  x_x

I can see where you wouldn't want to spend that money - again.
Congrats.  I'm in awe of anybody who does serious computer stuffs - I use 'em - I don't know that
much about their innards or processes.
I will keep fingers and toes tightly crossed for you, Ala.
I like the new Avatar by the way.  Very cool.

The new posting levels must've not inherited the permissions from the lower ones. I'll see what I can figure out.

Edit: Hopefully is fixed.
