Since Black Court vampires are so expensive to create and isn't really viable for a beginning PC because of this I thought I'd ask for a bit of help. I'm gearing up to play in a new DFRPG campaign soon. The first time I played DFRPG I played as a Red Court Initiate. I'd this time like to play as a member of the Black Court. A while back I downloaded a fan-made template for a "Black Court Initiate." I am going to list below my original Red Court Initiate vampire and then below it the template for a Black Court Initiate. Would anyone be willing to take what I have on the Red Court Initiate and translate it over onto the Black Court Initiate template? Moving over skills, Aspects, etc. Of course the powers will need to be redone but it might be simple since the costs are listed right here with them.

Please help me make him into the best Black Court Initiative he can be!

Here is the Black Court Initiate template:

Black Court Infected
Must take:

Blood Drinker [–1]
Feeding Dependency* [+1] which will affect all abilities listed below:
Cloak of Shadows -1

At least one of:

Inhuman Speed [–2]
Inhuman Strength [–2]
Inhuman Recovery [-2]

At least one of:

Claws [–1]
Echoes of the Beast [–1]
Domination [–2]
Gaseous Form [–3]

Optional

Beast Form (Bat) -1, affecting:
Wings -1
Diminutive Size -1

Minor magical abilities like a low powered Sorcerer or Minor Talent.

*Using your abilities drains your blood reserves requiring you to feed on the blood of other vampires or other creatures. So give a hunger stress track similar to Red Court infected but only Blood can sate it.

I don't think there is anything like a "Black Court Initiative". You die from the bite, you rise, that's it. You may argue, that the time between dying from the bite and rising from the dead would be a BCI, but I'd argue that would make for a rather dull game. But I guess "Fresh Black Court Vampire" would do the trick.

Then I would not really go for any template, since I almost never do that. Based on the BCV in Our World (Page 85):
- I would replace Addictive Saliva with Living Dead
- Take supernatural toughness with the +3 Broker style catch (so it's 1 refresh total)
- Claws is a good thing to take, if you want to focus on physical combat
- Cloak of shadows would be a good option, but you might want to wait with that, if sneaking around isn't your style.
- Echoes of the Beast is another option you could look into. Whether or not you immediately take it with Beast Change is up to you. Just take an Echo that would fit the beast you plan on taking up one day (usually Bat or Wolf, I think)
- Domination would be another interesting option, but it is fairly costly at 2 refresh
- The last one is Gaseous Form, which is probably too costly at 3 refresh

Skills are entirely up to you, though the usual "Martial Arts Upgrade" when transforming into a Vampire is a good way to start up (though by no means mandatory). Essentially, think about what you want to focus on when playing. By its very nature a BCV is pretty good at physical combat (especially a new vampire would focus on that, I assume). The book has a list for a regular vamp and a Master, maybe you want to start out more as a subtle black court vampire and go for other powers first. Master BCV are pretty much bad ass in every aspect, But you don't have nearly enough refresh, when you start out. Btw, how much refresh are we talking about?

I'm not sure if Inhuman Recovery and shapeshifting are appropriate for a Black Court Initiate. BCVs don't heal, and shapeshifting seems to be Master-only.

As for the character, I'd suggest ditching Killer Blow on general principles. Other than that, not sure what to say.

PS: How is Black Court Feeding Dependency different from Red Court Feeding Dependency?
PPS: Did you also post something about this on RPGnet?
