I bet you can't ____________
« on: February 22, 2012, 12:05:33 PM »
Some of Jim's coolest inspirations came from internet bets that he couldn't do something...

Examples would be the entire Alera series came from a bet that he couldn't write a good story based off of Lost Roman Legion and Pokémon.  Also the plot twist at the start of...

So what thing do you see in books frequently that annoys you and you wish you would never come across in a book again, yet like picking at a scab, you wonder if Jim could put some of his creative genious into it and come up with another masterpiece?

Not the same thing, but I'm pretty sure that Jim brought the term Blampire (used in BR when Harry talked to Eb about the blampire nest fight) over from the boards as a deliberate nod to the online community.

I bet you can't _________

I'll throw down the gauntlet.  Jim, I bet you can't make bacon relevant as a plot point.  ;)

^I like your thinking.  There are a few of us that would like to see this happen.  ;D

If I were going to go for a plot point, I would wonder how he would write in...

...an axe wielding dwarf.

He already made bacon relevant in the story. In The Warrior, he noted that ate breakfast Charity made turkey bacon instead of Real bacon. :) geek point! *beams*

I'll bet that even JB couldn't make the revelation of the Planet Zeist in the highlander series palatable.

That's because the alien angle in the second Highlander movie was a complete sequel Failure and should be completely erased from the history of Highlander. The second one was So dumb, it's truly an embarrassment to the awesomeness of the original.
No one can write anything to make that movie make sense or be significant. It was a fan fic  gone Horribly awry. XD

You hit 1000 posts off of Highlander 2...
You've managed- in our three years together- to kill not only my god, but my father, my brother, and my fiancée. That's kind of like a homicidal hat trick. It's a strange foundation for a relationship.

highlander 3 (and the series) were technicaly even worse.

At the end of the first, he was 'the one' with all that entailed.
Not 'the one' not currently stuck in a cave or 'the one' amongst several million other immortals and some sort of ninja priests.....
And here I thought Alera was self-plugging.

Heh, the series was entertaining though. I always passed it off as like "the next round", even though that still doesn't forgive the destruction of the great ending of the first one. They should have made the series like a prequel, go back with Conner and Duncan, start where Conner left Heather's grave, middle of the series where he met Duncan, end where he killed the Kurgan -I think I spelled that right- but that would mean that Duncan would have been killed off, because -ahem- "There can be only One!" XD
Heh, I totally geeked out the other day I finally got to see all of Shawshank Redemption, and realized the big mean guard is the actor that played the Kurgan :) geek point!
