Ah you are just so chock full of wisdom that you need to share it,  I am sort of sincere about that, even I am not sure how much is kidding.  I forget where I stole avatar from.  It was from the comic preview but it looks nothing like the finished work.

A gauntlet is a very heavy duty type of glove, CWG.
And throwing a gauntlet down on the ground was, in olden times, a way to challenge someone
to fight.
