(edit: Dispersed towns are a great way to combine a number of different flavors without diluting them. Attaching a large spa or resort, casino, wilderness areas and a farm-town to one another is way easier than trying to stick a castle into the middle of new york.)

When you speak of sticking a castle into the middle of New York, I assume you're talking about sticking a castle in the middle of New York City, right?  If so, you might want to look at this

There already is a castle in the middle of New York.  It's a rather pretty one too.

I requested permission to see yer city Mr. Beachhead.

I'm kinda hoping there's a mall so big it needs its own nuclear power plant.

did it work?

and no, sorry Roxy Rocket, our malls are more of the patheticly wasted variety...check it out for yourself to see what I mean, the malls actually get quite a big of page space in some sections.

So what I have here seems to work pretty well for us so far. The latest dventure will be adding a new location as opposed to using any of the existing ones, which is a fluff-creep i'd like to put an end to after our next game. In the near future I plan to have the characters llet in more on the realities of the supernatural; our Bull-In-China-Shop Wizard will be getting a mentor.

I deffinately dig what you said above Roxy, using the dispersed cities idea as a way to combine disparate themes; makes for alot more variety. On thing that did surprise me in dong the research was just how much wierdness and potentially haunted history there was in my neck of the woods. Actually having a local history of tunnels under the city was a bonus too!

First time I've ever seen a game set in my good ol' home town. Any thoughts on switching the mayor now that best has been replaced?
