Did the rules change?
« on: August 09, 2011, 01:32:40 AM »
I could have sworn I once read a whole segment, how ppl should avoid making threads that get a bit too much into fan fiction type thinking, at least in the main threads.  In deference to Jim, because of the tricky issues of intellectual property.  Wanted to read & remind myself of what it said on the matter.

Found it, but it was something like the sixth Announcement thread & my eyes glazed over it.  Still, I remember the rules being a whole lot more consolidated.  Not as piece mail.

As for Mick's post of don'ts I really couldn't follow it.  Just really doesn't get straight to the point & gets too involved with trying to make everything fun.  To the extent the don'ts are a bit hard to make out.  Just my opinion of course.

Even still, it is a thought to try and consolidate the rules to a single post.  You could leave the other stuff, but only as expansions on the rules.

First page, first subforum, first thread in there:

The "Book of Don't" is less a list of rules than an expression of different applications of those rules (like how drive-bys go against the "courtesy and respect" rules, in case people don't get it).

Oh, and since fanfic is now officially okay, it's not listed among the no-nos.
