security verification when responding to a pm

I find it very difficult to distinguish the letters some times. Today I tried "listening to the letters"; the recording only had some of the letters and then it froze my computer. Three times before I finally 'guessed' right! 

Is there any way these letters can be a bit easier to see?

Change your browser's font size display?

I know both IE and Firefox can do this.

I may have misunderstood what you're talking about. You could be talking about the security verification when doing registration, no?

Otherwise I'm not familiar with any security verification measures *existing* vis a vis responding to PMs, so I admit I'm a bit confused.

Well, when I want to respond to a pm, there is a box that appears, with 5 letters, varying in size, blue in color with a fuzzy background of varying sized chunks of blue "bits" and before my response will be accepted I have to get the letters right.

To borrow an old saying, it's a pain where I can't put a plaster. Don't need to change browser font size as some of the sizes of the letters are small and some are large.

Could possibly use new eyes.

I think that's due to a setting that is in effect for anyone who's made five or fewer posts.  I just dropped that threshold to 1 post, so it should only affect people who've never posted, and should stop affecting you entirely.
