Also, will Fred make an appearence?  I know that store carries his books, I could use an extra copy I would buy a spare if he is there.

Alexander "Xander" Kenvan Hicks was born at 12:43am on July 10th, 2011.  I expect Fred will be playing this by ear.

No idea, due to the aforementioned event. :)

I am aware of this happy event and figured that it couldn't hurt to ask.  If you can get away Fred, you got another set of pampers for Xander to boot as an extra bribe (the box from Costco)

I'd like to be able to make the drive out, for sure. I just don't know if I can make it happen, and may not until very close to the day. Jim and I are talking about it though. :)

If you need someone to taxi Jim TO you all at some point that day (his schedule willing), I'd be more than happy to do so.

His schedule looks pretty unwilling. I'd need to head on down to Tyson's.

Just thought I'd offer, in case you all wanted to explore that option.  Not that we wouldn't love to have you join us at Tyson's, of course! :)

I feel there should be a LoC tour mixed in there somewhere.

I'm just thinking through logistics and timing for this event so that I can prepare my wife.

If I need to be there at 5:00 pm to buy my book and get a signing ticket, and the event itself starts at 7:00 pm.  I assume that the signing line will start at 7:30 pm or 8:00 pm, and that I'll realistically end up spending 1-2 hours in line to get my book signed.  So with the drive each way (I live 1 hour from Tysons), and the event itself, I'm looking at probably 6-7 hours.

Sound right?

Sounds reasonable.  Fortunately, as D.C. is toward the end of the tour, you'll have data from earlier signings to better estimate how long your signing will go.

Thank you.  I'll be sure to bring comfortable shoes, and somehting to do while standing in line.  :-)

Lifted from another topic:

I asked, they said you have to have a receipt regardless, but they don't care if you return the book immediately afterwards. Still doesn't help me as I don't have the extra cash to begin with, but maybe it will help someone else.

Edit:  I do not condone this type of action which when I worked in retail we called "renting" I was just gathering information.
