I'll be going to this one, I'll keep a roster of posters who intend to be there in this reply too.

Due to all the horror stories I am hearing about traffic there, especially after 3 or 4, I'm leaving for this 3.5 hour trip at around noon, and expect to show up quite early in an attempt to avoid the rush hour traffic.  I would love to meet up with other fans to burn the time before the signing and have already heard from a few others that have similar intentions.  Sooooo, if you want to meet up with us, post as much and we will make plans to meet up somewhere close buy and have a bite to eat or something, and I'll put an Astrisk thingy next to your name in the roster.

List of forum members coming

SkinsFanVJ has offered to cordinate since he lives nearby.
Consensus seems to be that we will be meeting before the signing at Gordon Biersch which is located directly across from B&N's first story enterance inside the mall.  As a plus, they seem to have a lot of specialty beers, and have a bald owner/cook in a spotless white apron.  Ok I made up the part about the bald owner/cook.  A DFRPG session may ensue

I did.   *quiet but rolling jolly amusement at steps necessary to bring this off*

When you formulate your getaway plans, be aware they shut down 3 to 4 lanes of the Beltway and I-395 after 10pm for construction.

I was originally planning to just spend the night, but some friends in the area have discussed carpooling and sharing the night driving load back.

So I just got off the phone with the store asking them if they will let Jim sign my nook, and they said that they are waiting on direction from "Jim's camp"  I.E. internally they don't see a problem with the store, but they didn't want to comment without making sure that Jim's people didn't want to controll what he signed.  They asked that I call back in a month.

It's too bad she can't come, and I enjoyed meeting the lil one at Marscon too.  Electric MacButters says that he wishes someone got a pic of her delight when I showed her the shark tooth necklace, because it looked like a great "Harry moment"

All right, so I've just gotten off of the phone with a guy at the Barnes and Noble..  /Generally/, the policy is to only allow items bought in-store to be signed.  But author's preference will factor into it as well.  The guy said probably the best way to go would be to buy one item in-store, and then say, "Oh, I've also got one/a couple more to get signed, as well," depending on the author and their preference. So, yeah, bring along a few books, but I would expect to have to go to the end of the line after 1-2 of them, depending on the line size.

I know that for my part, I'll probably be preordering a copy of GS, because I want to get a copy for the local library as well.  And taking along a couple Codex books. :D

I got confirmation from my boss today that I can have the day off.  McLean, here I come!

I am also not adverse to arriving early/carpooling with anyone in the VA beach area who is attending.
Okay, I flipped the breaker, pulled the fuses, and blew up the transformer.

Why are my lights still on?
Henceforth, therefore, to be known as Electric MacButters?

I wish I could go, but sadly my wife can't the time off and I look after our son during the day. Otherwise I'd be all for it.

I have however made other arrangements so I can still get a signed copy of GS. This fan base is awesome!
