Lunge Stunt
« on: April 29, 2011, 04:11:45 AM »
Is it me or is the stunt Lunge a little too powerful ?

Lunge (Weapons): Madrigal gains a +2 to attacks made when
he begins his turn in a different zone than his target. He
may only use this stunt once per exchange, and it doesn’t
cover thrown weapons.

As long as a player has supernatural speed they can gain a +2 bonus to weapons each exchange.

Nah.  Just one more way to make stunts useful to critters with supernatural speed.  Like the custom "shot on the run" stunt (name might be off, but it allows full movement without penalty in rounds you fire a gun.)  Pretty nasty, but it's really no worse than having a stunt for two stress added to a weapon that a super strong player or NPC swings.

Ok, I totally read luge stunt and was confused. :D

It's a +2 to an offensive action under specific circumstances. Seems by the book to me, just brutal in combination with other stunts or powers like many other stunts.

Is it +2 to attack, or +2 damage?  Because I didn't think that +2 attack stunts were allowed under any conditions.

You're right, it would have to be +2 to damage or +1 to the attack roll.

Not for a mortal stunt, but it's actually weak for a power....

::evil::
Myself: If I were in her(Murphy's) position, I would have studied my ass off on the supernatural and rigged up special weapons to deal with them.  Murphy on the other hand just plans to overpower bad guys with the angst of her short woman's syndrome and blame all resulting failures on Harry.

+2 to attack are allowed or at least Our World uses them in several cases,  another example of a +2 stunt is

Swing for the Fences (Weapons): +2 to an
attack made with the Weapons skill, but
all his Defense or Block actions made with
Weapons, Fists, or Athletics suffer a –2
penalty until his next turn.

Though I suppose if you have a stunt that extends the dodge trapping to another skill this also could be quite useful.

Eh.  I'd call shenaningans on someone trying to pull a fast one and using some other stunt to, say, use Guns or Conviction to block physical attacks in concert with Swing for the Fences.  However, I might rework the entire stunt to be +2 attack with -1 defense, so you still get a net +1 in the end.

I am not sure I would 2 refresh for a +2 bonus seems reasonable to me , I figure Lunge is meant to be used like 'too fast to hit' so it includes a +1 to nulify the suplemental movement penalty so you only get a +1 to the attack roll in a specific situation, though this is entirly warped by supernatural speed powers.

My guess is that perhaps the lunge feat has a typo in it.  Other of the stunts that allow larger bonuses are useable once per scene.  And can you really use a Weapons attack (other than perhaps certain thrown area attacks like Molotov cocktails, or really big attacks like a giant wielding a telephone pole) more than once per exchange, anyway?
