Great ideas that, in retrospect, aren't
« on: February 16, 2011, 08:20:52 PM »
Didja ever do this?

So, I woke up after a dream and thought, "Wow.  What an interesting basis for a story."  I was so intrigued by the idea, I emailed a friend.

"Three words:" I wrote.  "Post-apocalyptic.  Werewolf.  Porn."

I was advised to up my dosages.  Ok, so Laurell K. pretty much has cornered the werewolf porn market.  There's room for more, right?  Am I right?  Right?!

Well, there's my "Twin Peaks meets The Graduate and Bruce Campbell is along for the ride" idea.  I've currently cannibalized parts of it for other projects.

If you write it well, and it has a good story to it, then yeah, you could totally do it.  And who knows, it could be big.  I'm not up on all the paranormal romance trends.

Well written supernatural porn is always desired by somebody. Not me though >.>

But in all honesty I use to really liked the Anita Blake books until they became porn. I'm fine with some sex in a novel but it shouldn't overshadow the plot, or be the central theme unless you are actually writing a smut novel.

As for bad ideas that seemed great at the time, i have a whole file full of them. Its titled Documents lol.
In the darkest hour i shall be there.

Mine?  A superhero team composed of people too gung-ho or too powerful to be left unsupervised.  It became WAY too emo WAY to fast.
Okay, I flipped the breaker, pulled the fuses, and blew up the transformer.

And Bruce Cambel brought the King back to life in that role.

I dunno.  Much like "Bubba Ho-Tep" also mentioned, I think any dubious idea becomes completely awesome if you put Bruce Campbell in it somewhere.

Well, maybe not "post-apocalyptic werewolf porn."  Much love to Bruce but these days I don't need to see him nekkid.  Maybe he could be the post-apocalyptic gun-runner.  There's always one.  That'd rule!

He'd be the one killing the pornographic post-apocalyptic werewolves. See? Instant-awesome button.
