Shirt Quotes: Buy Dresden Stuff!
« on: March 29, 2007, 09:04:56 PM »
So, I'm thinking the website should add a couple t-shirts to its list of cafe press gear, and I'm thinking the best way to do that (as it imposes no art-need) is to zero in on maybe two or three quotes from the books.

The business card thing -- that's been done.

But ones at the top of my head include:

"I the hell am Harry!"

(and)

"The building was on fire
and it wasn't my fault."

(Jim's favorite opening line)

Thoughts?

Does it have to be a quote?  Or would you be open to suggestions such as:

(front) The first rule of fairy maid service is you do not talk about fairy maid service.

(back) The Dresden Files.  Good clean fun.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference.

Got to include two of the classics:
"Polka will never die!"
"In the name of the pizza lord, CHARGE!"
"Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in for me!"

Forgot to say, I love this:

How about something that ties to McAnally's?

"McAnally's Pub - Best Beer, Steak Sandwiches, & Lemonade in Chicago.  Neutral Ground Since 1974"  (I'm guessing the year)

I'm rather partial to "Polka will never die!" myself.  And speaking of Todd's McAnally's idea, I seem to recall someone suggesting "McAnally's Tavern:  Where Everyone Knows Your Name (But Conjure By It At Their Own Risk)."  Or maybe that was my spin on another's idea.  Alas, only 22 and the memory's already starting to go!

And Fred, if you want the "SplatterCon!!!" logo I designed for the Molly costume, let me know!

I really like the fairy maid service one.

I'm also pretty fond of this Michael quote...

"Don't yadda yadda the Lord, Harry. It's disrespectful"

Not sure whether it has great T-shirt promise though.

How about something like  "Harry Dresden ... the wizard who puts the Ick in Magic" on the front and "The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher" or something like that on the back.

Although someone might be turned off by the thought of something "icky" and not read the books at all.

Hmm.  Back to the drawing board.
If you can't be a good example, you'll have to serve as a horrible warning.

 Accept Fred!  For all our sakes! (if you'd ever see me trying to do what she did, you'd understand why, lol...it's apocolyptic to say the least).

Other than the SplatterCon!!! graphic, would there be options for other graphic designs?  *visions of monkeys and pyrotechnic poo fill the mind*  If so, maybe a contest designed for deviantArt could be considered?

For some work generated from such contests:

Logo Design http://www.cafepress.com/darkartsasylum/1532064 and http://www.cafepress.com/darkartsasylum/1532164

Megadeth Design Contest (redsign Vic) http://browse.deviantart.com/projects/contests/2006/megadethdesign/?order=5 (beware, looooooots of images).

Lots of other contests listed under Categories/community projects/contests/search contests by year from there on.

I think the Blue Beetle would make an awesome graphic design, possibly accompanied by some sort of witty comment that I'm entirely incapable of thinking of on the spot.

Perhaps something about a pheonix?
This space vacant due to lack of creativity.
