Nevernever Bypass Wards and Threshold?
« on: December 08, 2010, 07:51:51 PM »
If a being enters a building through the Nevernever, are they still subject to the threshold and wards?

Perhaps protection against intrusion through the Nevernever could be an extra option for a ward. I think that a cost of 2 complexity would be appropriate.

The "No Mortal Home" trapping for worldwalker implies that thresholds may still have some power when someone's traveling into them from the Nevernever, but yeah they've definitely bypassed wards unless the wards are specifically set up to guard against entry from the Nevernever.

Ward seem to be bypassable, not Thresholds.

It would bypass any wards that are set to go off when something crosses the boundary of your threshold (you didn't cross it, you just materialized within it), but the protection of the threshold is more of an aura, covering the area within it, not a wall around the house, so you'd still be subject to its effect (including it acting as a block against you crossing over from the nevernever).

So, we can presume from

that:
a) creatures *could* cross into a space with a Threshold and Wards, albeit with the standard Threshold limitations on their power (Block), and

Given that Harry has an anemic bachelor threshold, I think that (b) is a fair assumption.

I'd agree with both, but thats just my opinion.

There is actually a specific reference to this in Chapter 23 of White Knight:
