Someone pointed out to me in PM that discussions with Mods are very stressful.

I can understand that, especially seeing the power trips on the internet some people get into.

Something that may help is to remember that we're fans, just like you. There's no "we're mods, we're better than you" attitude at play here. Our whole point is to keep the peace. This board's definition of peace is more peaceful than most of the internet, but that's by the wish of the folks whose house we're in. We're not scouring the boards looking for people to bust, and we do the best to keep things fair and level. We have a policy where anything serious with honest posters (instead of spammers) is discussed to get multiple viewpoints to make sure we're not reading something wrong. Things like that.

Also, bear in mind that attitude towards being modded affects things....if you explain "No, I did not mean it that way, it came out wrong" or somesuch in a conversational, non-threatening tone*, or if you simply realize you got belligerent in a post in the heat of the moment and correct something when we ask you to, we're likely to let water pass under the bridge. (That doesn't mean you have to agree with what we said or you get tossed out....you simply have to follow the rules. So do we. But if you want to disagree with us, just don't turn it into a heated argument. State your case, and we'll likely just start a discussion with you.)

If you don't get along with a specific moderator, ask to speak to another one (although don't do the "Mom said no, so I'll ask Dad" approach...this option is if you feel there's an actual personality conflict)

*I realize we sometimes sound stern when modding. We're not expecting a cowering reply from you, full of scrapping and bowing, the sternness is simply to clarify that we're not kidding...because all of us have huge senses of humor and we don't want any room for doubt that we're in Mod Mode & serious.
