*shrug* I don't think so. Plenty of people I know outline before November.

Honestly, do what works for you. If you're worried about the spirit of the Challenge, then follow the rules to a T. If you want to focus more on what you're churning out, do a kind of modified-NaNo.

But whatever you do, DON'T EDIT IN NOVEMBER. It is the one unforgivable sin.  ;)

omg, that Scrivener offer has me drooling. I'm dl-ing the beta when it comes out, but I'm not sure if I'll use it for NaNo. Too many distractions.  :D

i no rite?!

Seriously, if it weren't for that Scrivner offer, I'd blow off NaNo this year and just focus on Book 2.  But I'm poor, and 50% off for writing 50k words in a month?  I'm there.

Scrivener for Windows will have some similar properties as 2.0 for Mac.  I forget exactly what without going back and reading the blog post about 2.0 and the announcement of the Windows version.  But it'll be sort of a 1.5 that Mac never got.

I'm thinking about it, but at the same time I'm finally in the home stretch with my main project, and it has taken me a while. I'm pretty concerned about not finishing it up before moving on to something else. If I can somehow finish the first draft by Nov, I'll do it. :)

If you did it last year, do you have to sign up again, or are you automatically in their system?

I was still registered on their site when I went to it. But I think you still need to refresh your profile or something to get the local peptalks, etc.
If you are up to no good, please do no good for me too, okay?   ;D
