How do you know you have a good book?  It's 3am and you think "Just one more chapter!"

I am still Gunns,
Last years novel has been submitted, but the turnaround time is 9 mo to a year. (Space Opera) This years is a Fantasy....

Pre outlining is good even recommended, but don't let the outlining chain you down.

Regards,
Kevin

Well I'm going to give it the college try this year. Just got WriteItNow, and looking at Scrivener's Demo when it comes out in time for NaNoWriMo...

So we'll see...not sure what I'm going to write yet, most likely going to be some flavour of Urban Fantasy, though may just give traditional fantasy a go...wait an see I suppose what mood strikes me when the time comes :)

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do.  I'll either cheat and work on Book 2, work on a project I've had in mind for awhile now but never quite managed to get off the ground, or work on a more traditional fantasy story.  I probably won't decide until November 1 when I sit down and start typing. ;)

Nice, and I figured out a way to legally get out my first line (well a less awesome version of it anyway). I just used it as my "novel excerpt." 8)

I have several short story ideas that have been floating around in my head for a while. I am thinking of trying to rough draft them, one after another.

I did NaNo during 2006,2007, and 2008.
I loved it!
It was fun.
I even finished one year!

But I am NOT doing it again. I already have four WIP that I need to finish.

52,000 words into Book Six
28,000 words into Book Seven
14,000 words into Book Eight
 8,600  words into Book Nine

I suppose I could NaNo the rest of book seven ... heh

Doing it this year as I've done several years past.

Like last year I'm doing several short stories... actually most of this years efforts are going up on my blog.

I'm not doing it; I'm still reeling from 45,000 words in 8 days in September, and my plans for the next little while depend a lot on various feedback that I am expecting within this month or so.

did this last year without an outline, without a plot. joined exactly on November 1, 2009, and I blame a friend for it. I didn't win, but it was so. much. fun!

So I'm joining again this year with an actual plot + outline + character sheets + whatever else I can think of. I'll be ready this time! woohoo!

if anyone's interested, I'm also "Jaeh" there, so yeah. ^^

Wow, procrastination is a killer.  Six days and I only have two points on my outline.

You're further along than I am, then again I've been waiting to get Scrivener before trying anything.
