Shilling for Evil Hat and the RPG
« on: May 02, 2010, 03:47:18 AM »
The past two weeks, I had the chance to shill this game, and had a good time doing so.

The first was getting a coworker interested by talking and showing him the "Your Story" PDF. It started out by talking about walls (I work as a draftsman in an architect's office) and the side comment about Harry knowing a guy who can see through drywall - but only drywall. It was interested enough that I'm gonna hook him up with a copy of Storm Front this coming Monday.

The second was at my FLGS today. I mentioned to the owner that I've been busy reading the PDFs, and how the Early Bird Preorder was worked. She was interested, but wondered if she should carry the books herself. I told her YES. Since I don't know if, after the books are released, folks will be able to buy them through Evil Hat AND get the PDFs, with the same kind of deal. Besides, there are always folks who are interested in the idea of a Dresdenverse RPG who are not big on following things online, as well as those who would see it in her store and say "It must be mine!" (Every gamer has done this at least once in their life.) ;D

Since I usually drop over $50 every time I go into the shop (and it's usually more), as well as being a long time customer who has given her honest reviews of things I've purchased, she understands this gaemr attitude of "It must be mine!" when one sees something like this. :D

She seemed ghappy to hear my enthusiasm for the game, too, especially what appears to be the high quality of the final produst (including the oops thread at the top of this forum.)

Reading the pdf at work has helped get two more people interested in the books (my copies of Fool Moon and Storm Front are currently on loan) and are having their typical page turning crack like effect so another two fans are born!
