My b/f and I should probably figure out this one.  Only thing we've agreed on so far is that we're taking the train into the city.  But that can wait until after we get home tomorrow and see about how much this weekend cost.

Oh, nice - that'll be a straight walk over to the Javits Center.

I am calling it our anniversary present.  We shall have been married for 28 years come October 2nd...   ;D

Thank you.  I think celebrating that merits an outrageous outlay of money to meet my favorite living author!!  (And all you guys who will be there!!!)  I am so excited...  I need to come up with some sort of costume plan too...  Maybe Mrs Spunklecreif?

That Friday and Saturday night, at Radio City, there will be a showing of Two Towers accompanied by a full symphony playing the music.  They did Fellowship last year, and I wanted to go to that one, but I only found out about it a couple weeks beforehand.

I second that freak out and want you to know that this has broken my little geeky heart for I cannot afford to go, However I had been considering SDCC next year and methinks I will just have to re-think that idea... :D

All righty, for those of you familiar with the city.  My b/f and I are looking for a place to stay for this thing, and not sure what to do.  Better to go with one that the NYCC site suggests, or look around at travel sites?  My b/f's not much help with this cause even though he's been living just an hour from the city his entire life, he's been there like 3 times.  And we really don't want to take the train every day, cause that's like an hour one way.

Combine the two sources and see what you come up with. Seriously. You never know what you might find.

And the logicalness of this response tells me that I should try again tomorrow after sleep.  I'll blame it on the smoke from the casino.  Or something.  Yeah.  That.

Darn! Jim will be only 45 minutes away - but I'm getting married on Saturday, the 9th! Hmm, how to sneak over to NYC on Friday...

Think I can trade Jim a wedding invite for a signature?  ;)

SO whats edict for meeting an author at an event like this?  If I showed up with a stack of Dresden books and a pen would that be out of line?

 ::)

Maybe if I promise to take the wife to a show on broadway she'd actually let me go!

Ok, wondering if anyone else might've come across this.  Was trying to go through the Comic Con website for a hotel, clicked for fan reservation, and when it asked for info, it had company info required.  This happen for anyone?

Edit**  Nevermind this, it let me go forward without entering it.

It depends on what the line is like.  At bookstores, Jim will often sign three books per person, then anything else you want signed at the end of the signing, after everyone else has gone through the line.  Con signings have a very different structure, however.  I'll ask Jim the next time I talk to him.

Yay!  Hotel reservations made!  Now to decide when to see the LotR concert, Friday or Saturday?
