Also, the whole reading too quite a while, so it would be a simply enormous file that would most likely be too big to be emailed easily, even if broken down into several parts.

DEFINITELY too big. Mine was 2.55 gigs. 52 minutes of HD video'll do that. The sad part was that my Flip didn't get all that great of a picture. :*(

You guys should re-encode your files. My original D*C .mp4 video was 4.5 gig. I made it into an .avi file using Movavi file editor and cut the size to about half. Then, I cut it into further into ~10 minute clips for YouTube using Virtuadub.

Although, not that it'll help any, since you can't post a thing. ^_^;;

Even as a wmv file, which is the most compressed I'll go (I'm a video editor), 52 mins. would still make for four fairly large video clips. Not that it really matters, as the Word has come down from Jim.  lol

Astoundingly, our experienced team of crack snarkeologists have just this minute translated this ancient text, which will be appearing in every copy of The Book Of Don't.  The translation has been verified as Authentic Don't, We Really, Really Mean It by none other than His Most Bigger Than Me Modness, Mickey Finn.

Jim was nice enough to bend some rules and share some Beta with us at the dinner.  I'm sure that we all wish we could share nicely with our fellow fans, but Jim has specifically asked us not to, at least until the sample chapters are released for the preview.  He did us a good turn, let's not repay him by doing him a bad one.  I know we all want to share and be shared with, but we must respect the wishes of the Founder of The Feast, so please do not make Jim regret what he did for us.

Ah, thanks PG, that answers that question. Le sigh.  I swear one of these years I'm gonna make it to one of the major cons ><

So many lurkers had been de-cloaked in this thread.
Sorry for speaking out of turn and pardon my ignorance ...
But how exactly does one shed the "lurker" status?

A lurker is someone who regularly reads on a forum, but never posts.  They don't talk.  They lurk.  There's nothing wrong with that, by the way.  We geeks just like to think we do dramatic things like "lurk."  It's so much more sexy than "wait."

I don't recall the numbers I'm afraid.  Not that many, maybe 100?

To give a little more insight, your status will automatically change from Lurker status until you post a certain number of times (not sure what the actual number is, though).

When we say "lurkers," we don't necessarily mean those with that forum status, though. A lot of people calling themselves lurkers were at the Con this weekend and introduced themselves, or even have suddenly said hi on this thread and we're getting to know them now.

We're just happy that more people are comfortable "coming out," so to speak, and letting us get to know them on the forums.  :)

I am proud to have de-lurked! I've tripled my post count since the dinner! ... not that this has been overly difficult.

I'm even starting to hang out in the Chat, when I've got some free time. You're all such great folks. :]
