Yay!  Hotel reservations made!  Now to decide when to see the LotR concert, Friday or Saturday?

I'm planning a fan dinner on Saturday, so you should probably go Friday. :D

SO whats edict for meeting an author at an event like this?  If I showed up with a stack of Dresden books and a pen would that be out of line?

 ::)

Maybe if I promise to take the wife to a show on broadway she'd actually let me go!

I talked to Jim!

Me: I know you have the "three books the first time one goes through the line, the rest after everyone else had a chance to meet you" at bookstores, but does that change at conventions?
Jim: Depends on what the convention has set up.  Generally speaking, its my guideline.  I'll sign until everyone's done, but only three at a time.

Awesome!  Yay!  Will definitely go Friday, then.  Thanks!  ;D

and on that note, I think I've filled my exclamation quota for the month.

I will already be there with a certain bunch of nerds from some other franchise.

I will be there.

Who would I need to bribe, kill, impersonate or flatter outrageously to get in on the dinner???

I'll be driving down from Connecticut with a couple of friends, if there's still room for more at the dinner.  :)

Driving?  Oh, there's no train?  That's what I'm doing.

Which works out pretty well for you - coming in to Penn Station, you'll be just a relatively small number of blocks from the Javits.

We might take the train but the last few times I've gone to NY with the friends that'll be accompanying me, we just went to Scott's soon to be hubby's parent's house in the Bronx and parked there.

Well, you guys can help me think of an inexpensive restaurant within walking distance of the Javitz Center that can accommodate a staggering number of people!  I don't think I'm being unreasonable when I estimate 40 heads.

Carmine's in Times Square is one option.  Becco at 46th and 9th is fantastic for huge groups, but it could get pricey.

No, I will not rent out a Burger King. :D
