Help needed: Good song for a vampire stripper
« on: February 28, 2010, 07:45:37 PM »
I'm writing a kind of Twhinelite/Dresden Files/Yami no Matsuei crossover/mash-up, which involves a motley team of preternatural investigators doing some undercover work at a "gentleman's club" in Chicago. This includes the one girl on the team, who's a kind of low-key White Court vampire/energy vamp getting a job as a stripper. She's kind of playing up the vampire part of her nature ("Oh, I'm one of those vampire lifestyle people, but don't worry, it's just a personal kink and my boyfriend is my donor, so it's all safe.") as part of her cover. I'm just stuck as to what would be a good song for her to strip to; one or two of the songs on the "True Blood" soundtrack album work, but since they're a bit on a Southern rock wave-length, I was trying to think of something not quite so regional. Any thoughts?

Bauhaus, "Bela Lugosi's Dead", would be the classic option here. (For the text and also for the reference to the opening sequence of The Hunger, in which vampires David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve hunt in a  very cool sexy vampire way while Bauhaus perform the song live in cages in the nightclub in question.)

Concrete Blonde, "Bloodletting (The Vampire Song)", if Anne Rice is the desired feel.

If she wants to make a more contemporary pop-culture reference, there's the After Dark sequence from From Dusk 'til Dawn (bikini-clad dancing, otherwise work-safe).

If she's totally sending things up, Thou Shalt Not's If I Only Were A Goth has a definite something, though it's a bit short for the purpose. (definitely work-safe silly anime vid.)

There is always the wonderful standby called, "Hey Big Spender" but don't forget to use a feathered boa and then re-do some of the lyrics.

I came on board to suggest "Bela Lugosi's Dead" but I see it's already been taken.

I should think any obnoxious Euro-techno-metal would do.

I was thinking of that as ruled out by the "good song" bit of the phrase.

(Terrific, now I have Cliff Richard singing "Got myself a cryin', talkin', sleepin', walkin' living dead.. " in my head.)

Clearly it's been too long since I listened to Rob Zombie, cuz I don't remember any lyrics like that.

And I like Rob Zombie! Metal is awesome, and way better for getting in the mood than techno or R&B.

Living Dead Girl is awesome.  If it weren't for your accent, neurovore, I'd no longer speak to you.

That said, there was this old song by Paula Cole... "Feeling Love" was the name of it, I think.  It's just a stripper song. A slow and sexy kind of stripper song.  Even though the lyrics always make me laugh, at one section.

Well, that's because it was a Cliff Richard song you set off. I didn;t say the way my mind works was rational.

You have seen his duet with Lionel Richie, right ?

Living Dead Girl by Rob Zombie would be a good choice.

edit: someone already mentioned it above.... hmm how dirty are you looking? Something bubbly or something dark?
