I love this in the directions:

"one (1) mile east of the Compaq center ( the building formerly known as the Summit"

We used to go to the Summit for Concerts a long time ago.  I still call it that out of habit.

This is upsetting.

I live in Tomball, but have no way of getting downtown on a Tuesday.

Lack of actual means of transportation.

And I might be able to scrape up enough to buy the actual book, but not much else.

It's unlikely everybody would be arrive before 8:30 and Star Pizza closes at 10pm.  I would suggest a nearby bar which has a lot of seating, such as The Gingerman  http://houston.gingermanpub.com/  (many picnic tables and vast outdoor).

Just a question as a spoiled Californian...what's the weather like out there in the evening?  Good for outdoor seating?  That would be lovely.  :)

I'm confused. Are we doing lunch the day of the signing or the day before?

Day of the signing: Lunch at Star Pizza

After the signing: probably will be a get together involving forum peeps who couldn't make it to lunch.

Words cant even convey it... Men in kilts, hordes of bookstore commandos everywhere!  Forumites setting up court, re-arranging furniture, and driving uptight bookstore employees crazy...  Jim telling awesome and funny stories, talking to us, not at us; him signing crazy fans wearing tshirts with fan artwork on them :D

Chances of showers and I guess there might be some under 21 so a bar may not be a good choice for post-signing venue.  A nearby IHOP will be open late and open seating?

Good news is the TEMP will be nice.

However, we don't know about the humidity.
