Writing contest for clever rhymers out there....
« on: November 23, 2009, 07:02:44 PM »
http://misssnarksfirstvictim.blogspot.com/  see Nov 23rd post.

Sadly my poetic skills rarely reach even limerick quality.  I suspect that isn't the same for all of you!  Prizes are usually the chance to have the agent read your first 50 pages of COMPLETED MANUSCRIPT.  DO NOT, DO NOT try this until you have a COMPLETED MANUSCRIPT (READY FOR AGENT).   Hang around though, maybe your manuscript will be ready for the next contest.

Actually on reading further it is for agent to critique your finished and polished and perfect QUERY LETTER.  So completed manuscript AND perfect, exemplary Query Letter!  Still if it's a perfect query, she'd probably follow up with a request for pages, don't you think?  So repeat---FINISHED MANUSCRIPTS< FINISHED QUERY must be in your hands to post an entry.

:-) :D ;D ;) :) :-*

I don't get it...I thought Miss Snark was no longer blogging--or is this someone new just claiming to be her?  Or what? ???

It sounds like it's someone trying to be a blogger similar to her.  Down the page a bit are some FAQs, and one is a short bit about the name of the blog.  Apparently this woman is the first person to respond when Miss Snark first posted for people to send in their first pages.

from what you say there is a test
of poetry skills, they want the best
articulators, tried and true
as uncle sam says "they want you!"
miss snark in person (or in spirit)
will read our literary pirouettes,
and for our honours will awarded be
that golden apple of knowledges tree,
the goal, the possible future chance
to join the stately authors dance
and be acclaimed by critical mind;
as long as your query is defined.
well if this rumour is attested
(and i challenge here not to be be bested)
my 50 pages will soon follow
if the plot isn't hard to swallow.
good luck to all and luck to me
encased as it is in poetry!

Ms Snark is not the blogger.  She simply uses, MissSnarksFirstVictim.  :-)

I only have two completed manuscripts to shop.  Her contests can land your book on the desk of an agent though.  That's worth the visit if you've got something ready to go.

And love it Shades of Gray
